“We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained.” II Corinthians 4:8
This past weekend I had the privilege of participating as Spiritual Director in a Spiritual Retreat for people with disabilities. It was the 57th Retreat for the ministry known as AIM – Achieve • Inspire • Motivate, The Handicap Meet Christ.
Each retreat participant is paired with a volunteer buddy. He or she offers physical assistance during the weekend retreat. Many of these dedicated volunteers are members of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Family.
During my life as a priest, I have been involved in many ministries that inspired me, but none so powerful as my sharing in the AIM Retreat. The joy and knowledge of God that each participant exhibits is inspirational and moves us all to seeing the presence of Jesus in one another.
To all the volunteers especially those from St. Joan of Arc, you are the Gospel come alive. As a priest I preach the Gospel message and hope you take it off the pages and make it part of your life. By your sharing in this Retreat weekend you are the Words of Jesus in action. I am proud to be your priest.
