Resurrection, Christ conquers sin and death. This Easter Vigil
evening, we, the Church, come to life with Christ. By signs of light, of
water, of word, of song, and of sacrament, we celebrate the glory of the
risen Christ. As the liturgy begins, the new fire is kindled. The Pascal
Candle is lighted. This candle represents the risen Christ. It will burn
throughout the Easter Season. It will also burn at Baptisms as a sign that
Baptism is our death and resurrection in Christ. And it will burn at
funerals as a sign that the dead will rise in Christ. Let us pledge our
loyalty to Christ. Let us pledge that we shall always be faithful to Him in
everything we think and say and do.

Alleluia our Jesus is RISEN and has conquered sin.
The ALLELUIA has returned.
